Googling myself…
I’m really trying to get it to the point where my search results only show my writing and websites I’ve made. I hate all these pre-made profiles that come up, like “people finders” and “online resumes” that just autograb info from my Facebook and other social networks. UGH. I’m trying to go through and claim/delete all of them but it takes so long and the websites are so shady. They keep trying to get me to sign up for shit with my credit card.
Although it is good to know profileengine.com thinks I’m a highly influential social influence on the internet. Obviously that much is true.
One good thing is that I almost never put my full name on any website I join, because as you can see I have hyphenated last names (and a unique combination at that, french first name with one irish and one puerto rican last name). So from what I’ve seen I’m pretty sure I’m the only person in the whole world that comes up in my search.
There is still a lot of crap in there though. I’ve also been trying to weed out my profiles from old writing websites I joined in high school/early college with some pretty terrible content. lol. That’s always a pain too because I have to reactivate old emails just to send a password recovery email and all that business.
Although all of this has brought up something I hadn’t quite considered, which is pen-names. Not for the sake of anonymity, but I am engaged. I am getting married within the next two years and I do plan on changing my name. Not that I think I’ll publish anything in that time (but you never know!). Do I keep using my maiden name? Do I start using my future name change as a pen-name until then? It would definitely separate me from my earlier work, but then I couldn’t obsessively manicure my google search results. haha. I would have to share a google search with other Camilles!
It’s something to consider, to change or not to change?
Writing prompt: Write a story about an adult version of little red riding hood who was trained by the huntsman that came to her rescue after the wolf killed her grandmother. You can take it as realistic or as horror/fantasy as you’d like. Here are some examples:
-She travels to villages with wolf problems (possibly other fairy tales), her talents for hire.
-She uses her talents to track down and hunt evil people.
-She learns from and trains the wolves to hunt a larger evil (like vampires, etc).
-Her grandmother was killed by a werewolf, she works (either alone or with the huntsman) to track down and fight them.

It’s a good skill to be able to write about living things other than humans. Write a story about a pet, it could be a memory about a pet you actually had or a fictional character and their pet, it’s up to you.
